Volumetric Mapping/Field Development
Volumetric mapping is a graphical presentation of geographical and geological data. It is a standard method used to calculate area, thickness, netpay and the volume in place for oil, gas and unconventional resources. The files can be saved and recalled in association with an asset that can be a field, a reservoir or a well.
Future drilling plans can be stored and referenced as documentation for SEC reported reserves, as per the new SEC guidelines. This method is an oil and gas industry standard, as defined by many international reserves systems.
Volumetric mapping is used by geologists, reservoir engineer, reserves managers, consultants, and public oil and gas companies for SEC reporting. Private companies often use volumetric mapping for investor reporting. Using a volumetric mapping program that is integrated with an economics solution saves companies valuable time and money. Equally important, it eliminates reliance on multiple products to reproduce a historical reserve report and reduces risk associated with audit.
